That would be cool.  I started an overland trip once from Amsterdam to  
Katmandu and only made it as far as Islamabad of all places.  Although it  would be 
impossible to take the same route I think others have opened up through  
Russia, the Republics and China which were basically closed back then.
 
A puddle jumper over to NZ to do the Milford Track would be high on  the 
list.  Closer to home,  Maine, anyplace out West, or Alaska  visiting the various 
National Parks, Forests etc.
