PHL and Charlotte NC are USAir hubs, it would seem to me that you would get 
the cheapest air with them, your 2nd leg being Charlotte to Asheville.

I connected in Atlanta last year for the Ruck, took a commuter into 
Asheville. Asheville's airport is really nice. There are wooden rocking 
chairs everywhere too. Rental car rates are very reasonable and I got a free 
upgrade when I arrived.

I have learned from a friend to use Travelocity, but continue checking on 
usair.com.
