I don't think there''s supposed to be but, I recently read where an AT  hiker 
stumbled upon some poachers immediately off the AT in CT.  Not qute  sure 
where he saw them in CT but they had rifles and a spotlight, which they  tried to 
hide in their tent as the hiker approached.  Hopefully he notified  the 
authorities.
