does a frameless pack have to do with carrying a
Z-Rest?

FWIW, my kids and carry the Mt.
Washington/GossamerGear 3/4" eggcrate evazote.
My kids carry the frameless Equinox Katahdin, I carry
the MoonbowGear GearSkin. No probs, no worries.

And for what it's worth, I wouldn't buy any pack (or
pad!) without using it at home for as much A|B testing
as time would allow. We tend to live with these things
for many waking moments -- of satisfaction or not.
