Took my new Vapor Trails pack for a test run up
Mt. Wachusset yesterday evening. I had planned
to camp, but at the top of the mountain, read the
regulations and discovered that camping wasn't
allowed. I had a 99% chance of getting away with
it but decided to bag it anyway. The trailhead is
exactly an hours' drive from home.

I made myself a quick dinner near the summit as
the sun was setting and descended by headlamp.

New gear this time:
  * Vapor Trails pack (so long Camp Trails)
  * Tin Man's kitchen (so long Whisperlite)
  * Platypus bladder and soda bottle (bye bye Nalgene)
  * Katadyn filter (bye bye MSR.)

22 lbs. total, fully loaded for a short late-October
overnight. (It was around 35 degrees at 8 AM this
morning.) The pack felt wonderful, almost as if...
there was nothing there, really.

The items listed above have shaved almost 5 lbs.
There's still another lb. or two to be saved between
tent, sleeping bag, and pad.
