As a late-in-the-season southbounder during a worse-than-usual drought 
year, I can say that the best trail magic I/we received on the whole 
hike was water at road crossings (especially in NJ-PA-MD-VA). That 
includes that incredible bag of oranges and Oreos at Crawford Notch.
