Hey, y'all
A few questions for you about The Birches Shelters (Teej, you there?)

Pilot was told (by Ranger Bruce) that the shelters are for northbound 
thru-hikers only...yes ONLY. Is this true? If so, what do they recommend 
that southbounders do?  If this is true, it is one of the most assinine 
things I've heard in quite sometime...excepting the assinine bringing up 
of the 'drowning' again, of course...
