[at-l] Packing a Platy

I carry my water hydration bag from target not a platypus bag because it has
a opening the same size as the MSR opening and maligns bottles. I use a
inline filter for efficiency and ease. If the lid gets lost etc I can
replace. I carry mine on the outside of my bag not inside.

Others use a one or two liter soda pop bottle after they shrink it with hot
water at home first or when it needs replacing again after shrinking with
hot water
on the trail..
Theses things are hard to break.
Just give one to a kid and tell them to try to
destroy it.

Some use two12 oz sized carried on the shoulder straps in front and tank up
every where.
If my hydration breaks I can pick up a litter bottle
and also carry a gathered at the top silnylon bag as back up and for a bath.
Some also use gaiteraid bottles with wide mouths shrunk with boiling water
too.
I like my inline filter so use the hydration bag but if there was a finline
filter line for a liter bottled I'd conceder this as it can be replaced
frequently for sanitation much easier.

I made a G-4 pack with a added water holder on the side that goes near the
back by just sewing on a pocket to the outside of the bag the put the
sleeping pad in place. Worked nice to keep heavy stuff near the center of
gravity and water a bit warmer in cold weather and keep the weight of water
balanced with one hydration bag.
The only issue with this was that I couldn't get the pack to fit properly as
there was only me to estimate how much shorter to make the pack for my short
frame.
I ended up giving it to a family
member who is taller.

Anyway that's my thoughts on hydrations systems
and water filters.

Rogene.
