My first thought was Chairback followed by Rainbow Stream, up in ME, and
then I thought about how cold it would probably be in Dec. in ME.
Had a hard deciding after that so I looked through the list of shelters I
stayed in during my thru and hit upon Chestnut Knob. Hard to beat the view
from there.
Of course if I decided I wanted a view and didn't mind tenting I would go to
Davis Farm Campsite. No longer in the book I don't believe, but the tent
platform is dug into the side of the mountain and looks over Burke's Garden.
A view to die for

In hiking there is no special recognition given for speed, style or
finesse. There are only those that do the hike and those that don't.

Where on the trail would you spend xmas eve if you could. Now I am dating
myself since it's been 30 years since I thru hiked. There was an incredible
shelter somewhere in New Hampshire with views. That would be mine.
