A small but important question here - which trail are you planning to hike?  at-l is an AT oriented list - ADZPCTKO is a PCT oriented function held at Lake Morena CA.   So I'm confused. 
 
But, to sorta answer your question - last I heard (last year?) ADZPCTKO was close to being (if not, in fact) a "reservation-only" function, with 400-500 attendees.  
 
Now if you want a similar function (in fact, the "Mother" of ADZPCTKO) there are 2 Rucks on the East Coast in January - the Southern Ruck is held on ML King Day at Wesser NC, and the Mother Ruck is held the following weekend in PA.  You'd be welcome at either one - and could probably get your questions answered since many of the attendees have hiked the PCT as well as the AT.
