The Crocs I have have not seen a day on the trail, so I am not all that
worried about the traction. Any suggestions on gear to ditch, add or
replace?
WC, You were hiking in the DAKS! My inlaws are from North Creek, NY
( Johnstown) and my brother in law lives in Glen Falls. Small world, Last
summer my son and I hiked to Siamese Pond, Huntly Pond, and Stoney Pond....
all GREAT hikes! Do you have pics?

rocks. I was crossing a stream above a waterfall last summer in the
Adirondacks while wearing a pair of well worn Crocs and I did just as
you suggest - "slip(ped) across quickly". Ended the day at Glen Falls
Hospital via a Johnsburg EMT transport for 15 stitches in the head.
That being said, I love the Crocs and you can't beat them for weight.
If they're new and have good tread maybe, but I might consider a low
kayaking booty (that was for you Wench) for the traction. Probably a
lousy camp shoe choice since they don't let the foot breathe - but did I
mention the traction? >>
after my 4 year old waldies (same thing as crocs) wore down to nothing on
the bottom, I recently had them resoled with a vibram sole. A llittle
heavier, but lots of traction.
