I recently bought a Canon A710 IS.  It had most of the features I  was 
looking for.  Uses 2 AA batteries, 6 x optical zoom, view finder, image  stabilizer, 
auto or manual controls.  The only drawback I see is it's  not weather proof 
and won't fit in an Altoids tin like Stumpknockers..
