Dawg, that's just what I said. I told him he was channeling Hallmark.
It's The Friendship Poem by Sandra Lewis Pringle, I googled it.
(I've hiked with the guy, so I know his poetry doesn't run along those lines ordinarily).
;-)
I sent it back to him in Chinese, told him it was for our 2012 Chinese Wall Thru-hike - the 10 year anniversary of the Long Trail hike, soon to be immortalized in print (yes, it's true).
Chinese version:
