Well, ten years ago right now, Pilot and I were finishing off breakfast 
in the restaurant that used to be part of the Atkins Motel.  (The same 
restaurant that now sits with a big hole in the middle of the roof) 
After breakfast we went back to our rooms and finished packing and 
checking out. It was a sunny, but windy,  Sunday morning. We sat on a 
bench outside the mini-mart/truckstop trying to figure out some way for 
our time together to not be over (she was hiking north, I was hiking 
south). I said to her, on more than one occasion, "Hike south...".
She 
was to have none of it.  Finally, I came up with one that she would have 
some of: I have a friend who runs the Fox Hill Inn. He could come and 
get us!  And, he did.  I called Mark Holmes and he drove up and took us 
to a big grocery store where we got some 'stuff'. (Hell, I don't 
remember what stuff we got) and then took us back to the Inn.  We had a 
good time hanging out with Mark and Janet. Pilot spent a lot of time 
trying to figure the Feelmeister out. Ten years later, that task is 
still incomplete.  So, ten years ago today was a 'trail zero
day'...but, 
a lot of life miles were traveled as we got to know each other a bit 
better.
