Shipping a pack is good advice, especially at the end of a hike when you 
can send it home, but where would you sent it to start a hike in GA?  
One option may be to the Hiker Hostel, where you can arrange to get 
picked up at the Marta station, stay for the night and get a shuttle to 
Amicalola, or FS 42, the next morning.
