[at-l] I'm so dizzy...

I don't know where Dizzy B is but I've been to the Atwell Hilton location in the
past few years. You wouldn't recognize the place. The 2-story cabin was torn
down, actually burned down, the site bulldozed & filled so even the terrain
isn't the same. You would never think there was anything once there, never mind
a phenomenal hiker haven courtesy of Dizzy B. I was able to locate the privy
site, just on the edge of the land that's been re-landscaped.

About 4,5 perhaps 6 years ago the rangers had their fill of the hikers camping
along Atwell Hill, and a new shelter was going in anyway (it's pretty nice, but
has its drawbacks). Dizzy was invited to light the fire that destroyed the
building, and she accepted. She once thought of hiking the trail someday, I
think her daughter was the one that got her started on helping hikers.

The locals haven't heard about her, or if they have they haven't told me when I
asked. She was a particular friend of Baltimore Jack, but I don't think I ever
asked him about her. 

Anyone have a picture of this lady? Kind of ironic but the two visits I had with
her I didn't get the camera out.   --RockDancer
