[at-l] Journal entry, the fun we have while hiking...

>From near the end of my first LT hike:

Forgot to mention I took the "best flyer" of the trip today: coming down to
Rt 9 this morning through a somewhat recent blowdown. Had to step over a
log, and it was further down on the other side than I realized, and I lost
my balance. I would have recovered, but there was another log close by,
parallel with the first, and I realized that no matter what I did I was
going to fall over it. So I just pivoted around and went over it backwards,
with my pack for padding. Of course I got stuck like an upside down turtle,
and I had to take my pack off to get up, but I didn't get hurt. Bet you
could hear the swearing up and down the mountain though. Funny thing, the
whole thing happened in kind of slow motion, and even while it was happening
I knew I wasn't going to get hurt. I was swearing at the time, but now that
I look back at it, it seems pretty hilarious.
