Amtrak to Lynchburg would probably be more faster and more comfy for  
Gutsy than bus.  It looks to be about as far as Roanoke from the  
trailhead, shuttle-wise.  I just got off the trail at Route 60 near  
Buena Vista and noticed there was a shuttler posting signs in the  
area.  I didn't note down the phone number, unfortunately.

The gnats were terrible.  Definitely a good year to take a head net.
