Don't think many hikers would care about this closure, as the crossing is only
about four miles from Rt. 16.  However, if you need to get there the AT can be
reached from Cedar Springs, as far as I know.  You might want to check with
Mt. Rogers NRA, if you plan driving there.

Per Area Ranger, Beth Merz, the access to Forest Road 86 from the Atkins,
VA side is no longer available for access to national forest land due to a
right of way issue on private land.

The section of road that cannot be used is shown in yellow on the attached
map.

All volunteers, partners, and forest service employees should discontinue
using this section of road immediately.

Appalachian Trail access can no longer be obtained from this end of the
road until futher notice.
