[at-l] The COLOR of Stuff: Open (political) response to Thee Clyde

Babies shouldn't be killed. Either when they are the size of a pinhead or by sucking their brains out.

You can hate me if you want to, but that's the truth. And as a woman who has a right to choose AND as mother who kept her children instead of killing them, you won't get me to change my mind.

I think the thing that bothers me the most, is that it is all so unecessary. With the appointment of 2 supreme court judges a certinty in the next four years the choice has been made simple. If you want the right to kill your unborn babies you had better vote for Obama. McCain will take that right away from you if he gets the chance. I am headed for Arizona. Watch the TV, I think I will be on the stage on the inside. McCain will be outside, but I think they will show us. If you know Charlie Crist look around him.

Sorry, bud, you ain't getting a free ride on this one. Following is this Democrat's response to the Republican Talking Points

Yo, Clyde! What happened to "I won't attack them first, but I'll hit back hard if they do," or whatever it was that you said a month or so ago? I had said earlier that I was really proud of people for doing good during this election cycle, but that it probably wouldn't last. I guess I was right.

I think abortion is wrong as well. But it's not the only issue. Not even the most important. Abortion has been going down for years. Hopefully it will continue to.

I was "victimized" by an abortion when I was 16. My girlfriend and I screwed up and she got pregnant. My mother rushed her to Atlanta to get her an abortion. I didn"t want it; Joanna didn"t want it; her parents didn"t even know. My mother is one of these loud, "walk for life" kind of folks, yet in this case her beliefs weren't as strong as her selfish ego. She didn't want to be embarrassed by her boy making a baby, I guess. Joanna, me and our baby didn't matter. My life was ruined. I'll suffer until I die. But good old mom is well-respected through the entire community for her right-to-life stance. Go figure. Please don't presume to take the moral high ground against someone because of who you, or they, are voting for. I've seen that from a lot of Republicans and Democrats and Independents and it's disgusting.

Right to life. Is that only before folks are born? What about capital punishment? Do you believe that people have given up their right to life when they get found guilty in court? What about the people that get wrongly convicted? Is that just an "oops and oh well" kind of thing? Even if they're truly guilty, what gives us the right to "kill them back?" What about children, men and women who are getting killed innocently in Iraq? Is that okay? Are you mad yet? Are you THINKING yet?

Republican folk like to think that they are "God's Party." I am a United Methodist. We are against abortion for use of birth control and most other reasons. We are also against war except as a last resort. 9/11, perpetrated by a bunch of Saudis, does not rise to that level of a "last resort" need for us to attack Iraq. It wasn't even good enough for us to attack Afghanistan, even though I (wrongly) supported that war. Why do the people in this country say that they believe in God and his law not believe it all? Vengeance belongs to him. We are fighting an evil, evil war and we're paying for it. Even in the Old Testament, when the Jews fought a war that God didn't tell them to, they suffered, lost, were captured or any number of other things.

I think it is so sad that people say "well, they hit us first." Right. Does "turn the other cheek" and "resist not evil" only mean other people and other countries? This goes against human nature and common sense, but Proverbs says "there is a way that seems right to a man. That way leads to desolation."

I love you, Clyde, believe it or not. If you need to get mad at me to feel better, I understand. However, don't think that you can just vote for the Party of Palin on one issue alone, and that it's all suddenly morally acceptable and okay. Because it isn't. Neither party is truly acceptable, and we should probably just let them all go to hell on their own. Yet, every 2/4 years, we get into this like it really means something, or that things will really change. I'd imagine we're all wrong again.

  Frank
