... but, I'm not sure where to place  them all the time.  The "but" 
comma dives me nuts.  I need a few examples before, and after.  For 
example, I could say Felix is a good guy but, I don't always understand 
what he's talking about.   Felix is a good backpacker, but he stays in 
shelters too often.   Argh, I always thought they were after but, but it 
doesn't look right.

Sly, anything but sure of the but comma.
