Well, you have to read it first. :-)

 

It really will help. I've read a million (well, maybe not that many ...)
punctuation and grammar books, but Strunk & White is the one reference
book I always keep handy on my shelf.

 

(See there? I used a comma before "but" because it was followed by an
independent clause! Oh, how I love punctuation!)

LOL...  I don't know if it will solve most of my writing issues *but*, I
just bought a copy off Ebay!
