Actually, I remembered one more. The title was something like "Beyond Katahdin". Stories of hiking to the camps north of K in the 1930s (I think). I've got it around somewhere; if I find it or remember the author, I'll get back.

I've ordered a couple of the recommendations and the others are on my wish list!
The only "Maine book" that I've ever read is "Nine Mile Bridge". Wonderful book, sort of surprised that no one mentioned it. Probably because its pretty old and out of print.
By the way, for me a "Maine book" would be a book about Maine written by an author from Maine. :)
