Thanks, TomShoo. Those of us that actually have the insanity tend to
stick together, I have noticed, and I really appreciate that. I
respect and admire the tenacity of the weekenders, the dayhiker, the
one section-per-year folks and the one-thru-and-done crowd and more,
but you and I and Felix and Chase and Rock Dancer and that whole crew
fall into a group that makes other folks say "y'all just crazy." Crazy
we are, and crazy we'll continue to be, but I want no better friends
in this life than the obsessed hiker.

I'm going to Hendersonville this weekend to Mast General to get fitted
for Superfeet customs. They helped a lot in '05 when I had this just
in the left foot; maybe they'll help in both. I surely hope so,
because my insurance doesn't cover the REAL insoles that a podiatrist
makes, and they're over 300 bucks, even with the pity discount.

You would be pleased to know that I have been carrying so much less
stuff that my once full Aether 60 (you were there when I got it; said
it fit me well.) Is going to have to be down-traded to a Kestrel 48. I
never thought I'd need such a small pack. It's not light, but it has
the Osprey bulletproofedness and comfort. Would any other pack satisfy
an Osprey person going on his third of the brand? If so, I'd
ceertainly listen to a recommend from you.

P.S. to Rockdancer. Please email me when you get a chance. It's about
a deal I never finished with you.

Constantly traversing the small crack between rock and hard place!
