Yep, that was it, HATT.  I still have the fleece jacket!  I did a Shenandoah section too, southbound finishing at Rockfish Gap.  I think Photon was the Northbounders (Photon is their two-person trail name; they're brothers).  We shook hands at Simmon's Gap.

  I did Hands Across the Trail a few years ago.  It was a whole  
  weekend.  We were supposed to shake hands at the north and south ends  
  of our sections.  Mine was in Shenandoah.
