 Actually
    ten years ago today I started at Franconia Notch, NH and hiked to 
Stratton, ME 8/13/99. I had to return to work before  getting more 
vacation.  I returned on 9/10/99 to complete my first 2000 miler, 
summiting katahdin on 9/24/99 with Cobweb and Blisterbutt. Pittsburgh  
had a shelter reserved and he loaned my a daypack. Later he gave us a 
ride to Millinocket afterwards. :-)
    I remember we stopped to eat at a restaurant and I spied a fellow 
that I thought I must certainly know. He seemed to be noticing me and I 
felt like he must think I am a jerk for not speaking. After our meal I 
did speak to him. He thought he recognized me too. Turns out he has 
never been to Virginia and this was my first time in Maine. So it seems 
we had never met.
    I went on to spend three days with Don Cogswell in Millinocket 
waiting for my Bangor departure flight. Nice town Millinocket. Oh of 
course I got to see Buzz and talk to Earl again at the end of trail 
fest. I saw Earls slide show for the third time that year. I never get 
tired of it.
