You're talking the Sheltowee/Waterfall/Scout backyard!

Pretty much any trail west/north of the Cataloochee area is gorgeous, whether down low or up high. And the Cat. valley itself is beauteous.

No ideas for an anniversary dinner, really -- but the greasy spoon right on the west side of the road, in the middle of the block, of the main drag in Bryson City is yummy, fattening, and cheap for breakfast. (Thems the big three, right?)

I had a yummy dinner once -- POG, Stitches and I, at the Fontana Inn, in a broadish room with a woods-facing set of windows, and maybe a fireplace. Food, acceptable; setting, priceless.

Hey all.  I'll be staying in/near Blue Ridge,
Ga the week after Christmas with my family; thirteen of us, ranging in age from
5 to 68.  We are planning on taking the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, and will
probably take a day to go skiing (possibly at Cataloochee in Maggie
Valley).  Some of us also would like to go hiking.  What are your
suggestions for hiking near there?  Has anyone been to Aska?  What
other suggestions for activities do you have?  Also, do you know of a nice
place for dinner?  My folks' anniversary is during the time we're there and
we might treat them to a nice dinner.  I know of a couple of places in
Murphy, NC, but don't know much about Blue Ridge.

Thanks in advance, for your help!
:-)
Wench
