I would observe further that (and this holds for the rest of us) we are more *real* -- more of who we in fact really *are*, when we have left the glib trappings of so-called "civilization" behind -- when we're 5-6 days out without a shower, when the water is tight, when the heavy pack is disturbingly light, when the ground lacks for level and the rain blows cold and the night's coming quick. THEN you see some reality. (Heh! Or the next morning!) Pfff! Real.
