Very good point, Mara, thank you! I prefer butter to margarine b/c of the (even minimal) trans fat in the margarine, along with its added coloring, flavoring, and who-knows-what. I'm going to carry olive oil in a foolproof bottle but it won't always be available in small towns either. I'm guessing I'll have to bite the bullet and use the squeeze margarine sometimes.

Someone mentioned squeeze "butter" for the trail...

For those of us that prefer the flavor of real butter over the various
forms of margarine, I just thought I would mention that until it gets
too warm, carrying real butter on the trail is an option.
