Not sure about the camping thing, but if you are in that vacinity check out
the Art Loeb up through Shining Rock to Cold Mountain. Most excellent hike.
I think Liteshoe has done that section of trail as well. Just a note -
water is a little scarce going from Shining Rock to Cold Mountain.
