[at-l] Wet shoes

OK, you're hiking in pouring rain and your shoes are soaked. Your orthotics are soaked. You can put on dry socks but your shoes and insoles are still soaked. You hike the rest of the day. There is no way your shoes and orthotics/insoles can dry overnight so you wear them damp the next day. Now they stink, really really bad. And they're going to get wet again next time it rains.

I've thought about putting plastic bags over my socks inside my shoes on rainy days, which would keep my socks and feet dry, but my shoes and orthotics will still be soaked. They're gonna get moldy or something.

What do we do about this? The events described above are the true experiences of the author :-)  I walked in pouring rain for 40 minutes two days ago and finally, this evening, turned a hair dryer on my shoes. Obviously that's a home solution, not a Trail solution.

MacGyver
(who should be able to think of something but this one can't be fixed with duct tape....)
