Funny thing about codes in my county...when I built my house back in the 
mid-80s, my county was still in the process of implementing 
'inspections' for septics. I had mine dug and called to have it 
inspected before I backfilled/covered it. The guy couldn't make it that 
day...so, he told me to 'make a sketch of it and send it to me'. Huh??  
I wonder how close my 'sketch' was to actually looking like my septic 
field.
