Last year's hike was the first I carried an mp3 player. It can hold 40 hours of
music but needs a charge every 12 hours. I was north of Pearisburg and got to a
road to go for food in town. I hitched and as it happened the driver had a usb
charger in his dash board! What luck, I charged up while shopping for food & the
guy brought me back to the trail... RD

Interesting.  I think I'm buying a new cell phone tomorrow, so I'll find out if
I can charge it that way.  The phone I have now has two chargers--one for a
regular outlet and one for the cig. lighter in the car.
