Once at that water source between Beauty Spot and Unaka Mt., I got lots of little spots on me, looked like the black specks off Johnson grass that stick to you. I thought the tall grass had pricked me, and I scraped the "scabs" off in the shower. We went on to our son's house in Knoxville later that day, and I had a hard time sleeping, because my legs were red in areas where the spots had been, and they burned and itched. No lumps or bumps, though. The next day, on our way back home to IN, my husband drove by our doctor's office. One glance, and he got all excited. "What have you been doing?!" "Hiking. Do you think I have Lyme's disease?" "No, Rocky Mountain spotted fever." When I left, I had had a shot and gotten two bottles of antibiotics and a salve or cream of some kind to rub on it. Don't mess around with tick bites. a'bear
