We use silnylon backpackers' ponchos (campmor for she-dino and equinox
for he-dino) for summer and both frogg toggs & the ponchos for winter
for exactly the reasons noted by most others. Raingear holds heat more
than keeping you dry. In summer, the ponchos keep our gear dry and give
us a small tarp to use for cooking and for extra dry space when we camp
in rain (dinos are rarely seen in the vicinity of a shelter). In the
winter, the frogg toggs keep us warm and the silnylon ponchos keep our
stuff dry.
