 -24*F walking to work from the bus stop in Pittsburgh a good 18 years ago or so. I think I had seven layers on. Outdoors, my first backpacking trip (solo) ushered in a surprise snowstorm that I survived thanks to a space blanket. See the archives, circa 1997. I think it was 31* that night, but to a newbie backpacker with a 20* bag, it felt like 0*...
