I had a pair of Keen boots. Wore them a couple of times before hiking in the green mountains. They literally fell to pieces. Fortunately REI gave me a refund. They are really not hiking boots. I guess that they are OK for level ground.

I just got a new pair of Keen boots at the REI of Doom in Denver. So 
comfy! They appear to have no break in period. I took them on a 
quicky hike around Red Rocks and forgot about them immediately.
