I check into Palmetto Baptist Easley at 8:30 in the A.M. for 4
surgeries. Removal of uvula and most of soft palate, septoplasty, and
some sort of sinus repair. People keep thinking they're doing me some
sort of service by telling me how bad it hurt when they had ONE of
these done.

For most of the last 13 years, I've had pretty well continuous
headaches. A few months ago, my pain management specialist used a
black-magic trick, turned off a couple of nerves, and I've been nearly
pain free since then. I have really enjoyed the recent lack of pain,
and for some reason, I'm terrified of going back there again! It
really drains you to hurt a lot and for a long time.

Anyway, I'm being silly but honest. I know that people go through
worse every day. It seems an odd thing to be afraid of, and I know it.
I just am. Heck, I've had kidney stones and crush injuries. I have
probably hurt worse than I will from this. I can't explain it, it just
is.
