What I want to know, has the quality of the pie improved?

Hi all,

Since we're in a Long Trail sort of mood, I thought some
of you might enjoy Ready's account of her and Spur's
latest Long Trail hike - and their experiences at The Hydeaway Inn, where once upon a time Thee Clde (aka MAFMAN) dined on their apple pie... a pie that has kept on giving, even seven years later

Hi Jan,

Spur and I finally got back onto the LT and finished the final 111 miles last Saturday. It was hard, but really a great experience. We had 11 cool days of sunny weather; the only clouds in the sky served to make an even more beautiful backdrop for our landscapes. Only on the final day did we get a bit of fog and drizzle. What luck, eh?

We left our car at HydeAway and shuttled up to Canada, hiking south back to our car.
Margaret (propiretor of the HydeAway) hadn't read your book yet, so I left my copy with her to read (warning her, of course, about Clyde's little meltdown about the pie -- which she'd heard about, so it wasn't a big surprise).

When we got back there, she'd not quite managed to

finish, but she said she enjoyed it so much, she was going to go ahead and order herself a copy. She said this is a book that she wants to loan to a bunch of people to read, and to add the the Inn's library! She said she laughed out loud many times over and thoroughly enjoyed reading it, wasn't at all offended by the "pie incident," and noted that that wasn't the *only* time Clyde came up a bit "crabby." ;-)

Anyhoo. I recommended that she include "Pie ala Clyde" on the menu and she thought that was a good idea. When I myself ordered that item with the waitstaff (explaining its origin), they laughed and laughed. It's a really fun place! Just thought you'd enjoy knowing that your book is a hit there....

Hope to see you at the Gathering!

:-)
Sanne
