As a Marine and having been transported by the Navy, I saw far higher then quads – e.g., 18 inches apart, canvas stretched with ropes inside a pipe rectangle, & hung by chains on one side so they could be folded up.

Now if you are/were/have been in the Navy, you may have seen quad bunks!
