(CNN) -- Rescue teams were searching Thursday for three missing hikers in a 
pair of adjacent national parks in California.

About 45 people were looking for the three men in and around Mount Whitney, in 
Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks, the National Park Service said.

Phillip Michael Abraham, 34; Dale Clymens, 45, and Stevan James Filips, 45, 
set out at 4 a.m. Monday with plans to hike to Mount Whitney, the park service 
said.
