I have a Pentax Optio W90 12.1 mp digital, point & shoot camera.  It has compact sensor, 5x zoom, CCD, standard SD - SDHC, built in flash, ISO 6400 and weighs in at a mere 5.1 oz.  It is Pentax's 11th generation waterproof camera!  It is also shockr proof and freeze proof.  Here is a link that has more information on it.  Of all of the point and shoot cameras that I have owned, I would say that this has been the best bang for my buck.

To be sure I was worried about leaving my trusty AA batteries... however, when I purchased my camera off of Amazon there was a bundled offer that gave me an additional 2 batteries and a charger.  The batteries last oh so much longer than AA's and they are oh so much lighter!!!  I have to say that if you had 3 batteries that you could be out hiking all week in really rough terrain and weather and would be able to take pics like crazy!  I absolutely love mine.

Here is the newest generation...
