An alternative for those who can't attend the Ruck or Superbowl! BTW, we're
having a terrific snowy winter. Boston just passed the "twice normal for
season" snow amount. Yesterday in the woods the snow was fluffy and deep, at
least 2 feet on the flat areas. It's going to make the bird competition a
bit more athletic than usual.--RD

"Mass Audubon's Joppa Flats Education Center, began its SUPER BOWL OF
BIRDING VIII: An annual competition today from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. A
competition among birders to spot the greatest number of bird species and to
earn the greatest number of points based on the rarity of the birds recorded
in a twelve-hour period. For all ages and all levels of birders. Fee is $20.
The competition is followed by supper and awards. "
