This is from September 1, at 2:40 pm on this website. I have to say, just 3
weeks after breaking my foot in the woods, that I'm so glad I didn't have to
initiate this kind of rescue. Yeah, it sucked walking injured for a mile
but, knowing the trails in the Whites, I wouldn't want to walk out from
where she broke her ankle. --RD

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Fish and Game officials say a hiker is
being treated for a fractured ankle after being rescued from the Appalachian
Trail in Gorham.

A 20-member rescue team climbed five miles up the Carter Moriah trail after
getting a report that a woman hiking alone was injured.

They carried 66-year-old Ruth Dobsevage

over steep terrain before reaching the trail head at 11 p.m. Wednesday and

WMWV radio reports that Dobsevage is hiking the Appalachian Trail in
sections and was on a 10-day hike when she fractured her ankle.

The rescue team was made up of Fish and Game conservations officers and
members of the Appalachian Club
