I mean no offense to you or your boyfriend, but it sounds to me like Rosie needs to come off trail.  I think her hike may be over.  Take her to a vet and get a sound opinion before she goes much further.  Just like humans, dogs can have health damage that can be irreparable.  Please consider Rosie's overall health and make the best decision for her... she depends on you too.
