3 Appalachian Trail hikers found in good condition

Authorities in Amherst County at 11 a.m. confirmed that a search party has found the three missing Appalachian Trail hikers, and that they are in good condition.

AMHERST (AP) -- Authorities are searching for three missing hikers along the Appalachian Trail in Virginia.

Police tell media outlets that three women were reported missing at 9 p.m. Thursday when they didn't return to their camp at the Otter Creek Campground in Amherst County after a hike.

A 10-mile area was searched overnight.

A dispatcher with the Amherst County Sheriff's Office says the search resumed Friday morning.

Police say the missing women are ages 50, 70 and 80.
