[at-l] A Fine and Pleasant Misery

Just had a faculty member recommend Patrick McManus' book of short stories titled A Fine and Pleasant Misery.  Has anyone read it?  Thoughts?  

The chemistry faculty member will be doing 70 miles in the Wyoming Rockies in search of the rare golden trout.  This isn't for science:  it's a catch and release lake-to-lake vaction for him and a pal.  They'll use a pack horse to carry things in for the first 15 miles.  I'm jealous--not of the fishing, but of the whole idea of being in the high country of Wyoming again.

Anyhow, anyone read the book?
