50 to 60 people injured as car strikes Va. parade
DAMASCUS, Va. (AP) — An emergency official says about 50 to 60 people were
injured after car drove into a group of hikers at a parade in a small
Virginia town.
Washington County director of emergency management Pokey Harris said
Saturday that no fatalities have been reported.
The injuries ranged from critical to superficial. Three of the victims were
flown by helicopter to regional hospitals. Another 12 to 15 were taken by
ambulance. The rest were treated at the scene in Damascus, about a half-hour
east of Bristol.

Car hits crowd at Virginia parade, 60 injured
Up to 60 people were hurt when a car hit a crowd during a parade in the US
state of Virginia, officials say.
They say more than 10 people have been taken to hospital in a serious
condition from the small town of Damascus.
The crash happened at about 14:30 local time (18:30 GMT) during an annual
festival celebrating the Appalachian Trail.
US media reports suggest the driver may have had a medical condition.
The car appeared to come from a side street, hitting the crowds, according
to the Associated Press news agency.

Dispatcher: 50 injured after car plows into parade-goers in Virginia

(CNN) -- As many as 50 people were injured Saturday afternoon after a car
plowed into parade-goers in Damascus, Virginia, a police dispatcher told
CNN.
Of those injured, there were at lease five or six "trauma victims," the
dispatcher said.
The accident occurred during a parade at the annual Trail Days festival in
the town near the Virginia-Tennessee border.

UPDATE: Vehicle hits pedestrians at Trail Days Festival in Washington County

Numerous pedestrians were stuck by a vehicle in Damascus, Virginia at the
annual Trails Days Festival. That's about 2 hours south of Roanoke, near
Bristol.
At least four medical helicopters and almost a dozen ambulances are
assiting.
