Hi All!

I was probably the last nobo hiker to get through the Sheridan Pass area near the fire. I had meet a Ranger before Leed's Creek who said that the fire was about 1,000 acres and the Forest Service was just monitoring it. I had camped at the headwaters of Leed's Creek one night and in the morning my tent was covered with ash and the smoke was really thick. The winds had come and really stoked the fire. Needless to say, I hightailed it out of there. It was pretty scary but I got some awesome pictures. Even when I got down to Squaw and Papoose Creeks, I was afraid the fire would shift toward me so I opted for the jeep road down there as a fast get-a-way. Don't do it! I ended up away from the fire but well west of Tripod Peak! This jeep road wasn't even on my maps! Anyhow, I ended up on quite a crosscountry adventure to Togwotee Pass. Never meet another hiker either from Green River Lakes to the Pass.

On the Sandy Lodge issue...I had hiked the Winds a few years ago and found the employees to be very accomodating. They allowed me to leave my vehicle parked there while I hiked to Green River Lakes. I felt liked I owed them something on my return so I rented a cabin for the night. I had dinner at the lodge but unfortunately, got a horrendous case of food poisoning. Otherwise, the employees treated me nice. Prices were high though.
