[cdt-l] cdt-l Digest, Vol 37, Issue 24

Jonathan and others,
Allen Stibora and I have spent a number of occasions searching in
vain for a reliable and clean source of water at the location of the
Malpais Spring in the Malpais. The best we have ever come up with
was a wet, greenish sponge of algae. Probably okay for dire
emergencies, but, at that point, you're close enough to some
residences to beg water. One of the local residents in that area
thinks that the development of the area has changed the hydrology to
the point that the spring is no longer viable. Sad and familiar
story in the West.
